“It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
Rahul Singh is a wildlife photographer who has captured some incredible images of a variety of creatures. Among them are elephants, deer, jackals, monkeys, and rhinos. His actual passion is capturing the many different species of colourful birds that can be found nesting in his area.
During such time he was capturing birds, he had a pivotal moment in his life.
“I went to a spot where there are bushes of these ornamental bananas and photographed sunbirds taking nectar from them.”
The photographer says, “Everything was going as usual when the crimson sunbird began bathing in the water held in the banana blossom petal.”
The red pealed flower in these photos is known as the ornamental banana flower, and one of its petals had collected water from the early morning drizzle. The small crimson sunbird, which measured only 4 inches in length, took advantage of the opportunity to cool off on a hot day.
After filling up on nectar, the small sunbird cooled off in the petal ‘bathtub.’ Rahul had never seen anything like it in all his years of bird watching, this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
“I was so taken aback by this strange ritual that I kept hitting the shutter button on my camera as the bird cleaned.”
Rahul is a talented photographer and the photos taken by him are excellent. He has made extensive use of Instagram to popularize his photos among the masses.
The photographs were subsequently uploaded on Rahul’s Instagram account. He seems ecstatic to have been in the right spot at the right time to capture this incredible moment.
Rahul continued, “This was certainly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.” “It’s amazing how nature can catch us off guard.”
